segnic13 Posted August 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I got myself an old glass (not a Leica one). I made a mistake of not bringing along an adapter, so i bought the glass without testing it *sigh* I was in S'pore and it was my last day there. When the image is in focus, in the finder, the result comes out, out of focus. But when the image coupling is off by a few milimetres, the image comes out perfectly focused. It's kinda frustrating. I love this lens. Is there anything I can do to make it work better? Sue.

jaapv Posted August 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 23, 2010 Can't you put a shim between the lens and the adapter?
Nicoleica Posted August 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2010 I may be wrong, but I think that I saw somewhere on another thread that different makes of adaptor can make a difference on these lenses. Although in theory they should all be the same, in practice this seems not to be the case. Edit: I couldn't find that link, but I did find one regarding shimming a J3, as suggested by Jaap. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/15081-jupiter-lenses-m8-2.html#post1186168 Good luck. segnic13 Posted August 23, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted August 23, 2010 I actually used paper for shimming. Now the focus perfect! Thanks again!
