Whichever lens happens to be on my camera at the time!

For with a lens you can dream of the images that you will make today, but without a lens you can only dream of what may have been. :)

An insightful response!

I was strangely fortunate this week to buy a used black M9 ( it was still boxed and completely unopened) on Ebay that had no bids against me. The next day I bought the dream lens, a black painted 50 Lux, also from ebay. There were no bids for this either.

Spooky.........

but........the perfect combination at a phenomenal price.

Has either arrived yet?

Both were collected so as to meet the owners and check provenance. The M9 was originally bought from Ivor at Red Dot and is 7 months old, but as stated - not even opened. The lens is just as good as it gets - a perfect match to the M9.

They are both stunning and the first photos - taken last night - are beyond my expectations. Sadly it is raining very heavily in Devon this morning so I'm locked in to the office.

In the export menu, you can resize the picture, this will reduse picture size significantly. You can also here put a cap on file size, but it is important to reduce picture size in order to achieve small file sizes with acceptable image quality.

The lens I'm really dreaming of is the new 35 lux. Haven't used it properly yet (just played with it in the Leica store), but I have a good feeling about it. I just hope that it draws as well as the 50 cron I had years ago.

50 Summiliux, closely followed by 24 Summilux

24 Summilux. No M9 yet, but a M6TTL 0.58 for this lens.

If I could have a "closely followed by" it would be the 50LuxA.

One lens only?

tri ( =28-35-50mm - 2.nd version with the tab)

This is my first post on this forum, but Ive been shooting Ms for several years, owning a M6/M8 and have a M9 on order.

I am a professional photojournalist for a newspaper so my style of shooting is heavily oriented towards reportage (no sports).

I would say that the good ole´ 35mm would be the best choice for an allround lens.

I use a 35/1,4 for roughly 90% of my pictures since I got it 2 years ago, and I have gotten pretty creative with it. I actually cherish the lack of choices as it brings out my love of photography like no other camera can.

So my advice:

Get a 35mm, all three current models are excellent and have something going for them.

Summarit - super light weight and not too expensive, especially used

Summicron - best of both worlds, a classic

Summilux - well if you have only ONE, might as well get this.... Give me the 2010 model ´lux and I would be a happy man with never using another lens.

Do keep in mind that "last years" lux is also a phenomenal choice and starting to show up on the used market. But you DID ask about dream lens.

( I would recommend against the super-exotics, such as the .95 Lux, nice lens, but too heavy to carry around at all times IMO. THen on the other hand if you plonked down ten grand for a 50mm, you might want to get some use out of your investment... )
