petert531 Posted January 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not touched up at all. THis is from last night. I have been shooting various things. Some more test like, which is as boring as family pictures for me..This shoot was what emerged from a late cancellation of a senior model with a total rookie substituted. The makeup artist had a concept and then found out half way through that she forgot something at home so the makeup went awry...we tried our best to recover and this is the story that emerged. I 'invented' (sure nothing is new) some lighting for the story. Here it is. Let me know what you think...especially of the lighting. The model was a deer in the headlights, I did my best. This is SO HARD to do right...sigh. Peter
Advertisement Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Hi petert531, Take a look here Alien . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Your Old Dog Posted January 6, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2007 I think they are pretty neat! You're obviously way out of my league but when you say the shoot was disadvantaged by the model and the deer in the headlights look I think you should hit the issue head on instead of trying to work around it. It just might give you some unique images. It's been my experiance that if you look hard enough, you can turn most disadvantages to advantages. I'm not trying to be Polly Anna here but it has worked that way for me. For the record, I like the last two best. Too bad her posture was so poor o the third one with the rounded shoulders. good luck
stuny Posted January 6, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2007 Peter - How frustrating to pay for the model and make-up and have outside events undermine your intents, time and expenses. For me numbers 1 # 2 do NOT make it. The lighting, which is too much from below, lends an eerie Twilight Zone or horror film feel to it, which I suppose would be fine if that were your intent. Make-up person seems to have slightly added to that feel with the amount and color of the eye make-up. Add to that the feeling of bags under the eyes in both those shots. #4 works best in pose, make-up and light, and seems to be on target for a nail advert, or if she was wearing jewelry, a ring or bracelet advert. #3 just misses by a small amount – I too would prefer her shoulders not that rounded. Or, perhaps her right shoulder back, but left shoulder where it is so that we get a hint of it.
petert531 Posted January 6, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted January 6, 2007 Alien WAS the intent, which is why I lit from below, it always has an eery quality. And for the record I don't pay to shoot...no chance, I'm broke enough from doing this. But I felt that time could have been better spent. Bags will be fixed by PS etc...as I said I didn't touch up, this is hot off the sensor, no levelling even and lots of hot spots. Thanks for the tips about the shoulders I'll see what I can do there. Thanks for looking Peter
stuny Posted January 6, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 6, 2007 Ah. I thought "alien" was referring to the unwanted effect. You have achieved the alien effect in 1 & 2, as I noted.
imported_peter_m Posted January 7, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 7, 2007 Nice series Peter. I would say you did save the session and got some great images. The one thing I find distracting is the yellow light on the check and neck in 3 and it is a bit there in 1 on the neck. Peter
