At first they were expelled, but now they are welcomed, as an attraction. Thanks for taking a look. Larry
Advertisement Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hi likalar, Take a look here Sea Lions Portrait, San Francisco. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
richam Posted August 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2010 Larry, Excellent portrait of these interesting animals. Tones and composition are spot on. The background is perfect. Enough detail to see the spectators but sufficiently out of focus to avoid distraction. Best of all are the positions and expressions on the animals' faces. The one on the left appears to be a bull lording over his harem. The cows are nonchalant, curious, or asleep. All captured at just the right moment. MEB Posted August 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2010 Larry, I have been there many times and I love them. Their noise is continuous. Were you in a boat? The only way I have ever been able to shoot them (camera wise) was from the pier in the background. You achieved a completely different perspective. Really excellent. likalar Posted August 15, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted August 15, 2010 Thank you very much, Michael and Mark; I'm glad you liked it. I was in a small boat that sits very low to the water. The dog was with me, ready to jump in. Larry

pauledell Posted August 16, 2010 Share #6 Posted August 16, 2010 Larry, A great shot with the vantage point, composition, tonality, selective focus and sharpness. I love the expressions of some of the sea lions. The one at the right seems to be napping. Paul

Dear Larry: I agree with the comment totally, and I would just add what a charming shot! I was at that exact spot a few years back and I remember having walked up the hill for ice cream! Great idea to be on a boat! Tri:)
