My leica MP has stopped working today when I was shotting the frame number 25 of a Delta 400 36 exposures film. It doesn't let me advance the film nor shoot the film always at the same point: the frame number 25...

I have downloaded the film and it seems there is no problem since it lets me shoot as long as I want. it just appears the problem when I put film through always at the same point.

I would be very grateful it you can give me some advice. The camera is two years old and it has always runned percfectly

Thanks

Are you absolutely sure that it is a 36 exposure film and not a 24? :(

"downloaded the film" :eek::D

I too would double check that it is indeed a 36 exp roll - can't think of any reason why the camera would stop you winding on unless there's some snag inside the film cart?

Assuming IT IS a 36exp roll, try sticking another 36exp film in the camera and 'shoot' that with your lens cap on to see if you get the same problem.

I had a similar problem with a M6. Not always on the same frame number, but after a certain number of shots I could not advance the film any more. Without film, I could "shoot" forever.

Having a mislabeled film is VERY unlikely, I've never heard that before.

Guess you'll have to get that fixed by LEICA.

This is usually a problem with the washers underneath the rewind crank and is an easy and cheap repair. I had exactly the same problem myself.

We had someone here that actually did have a 24 exposure roll in the camera and was trying to advance.

Thanks for the suggestion Steve. That does sound reasonable.

If it happens within the first ten shots it can easily be a misfed film into the takeup spool...that's happened to me a couple of times.

Thanks.

Allan

Over 40+ years of professional shooting I've seen mislabeled film a number of times. On one ocasion Kodak spooled the wrong emulsion on 120 with the incorrect backing paper and boxes. I had two 250 sheet cases of 8x10 Eketchrome E6 that missed the yellow coating and only had magenta and cyan layers. Both boxes had the filtration recommendations packed in the box as though it had been tester. I can give a number of examples so yes things like this do happen more than you think.
