No comment in the piece regarding warrantee and potentially different s/w settings.

It's interesting to note that the ZS5 is the same as the ZS7, without the GPS. If one has no desire for GPS that makes the effective price difference between Leica & Lumix greater.

In the UK you also get Elements 8 with the v-lux20.

I'm pleased with the images from it.

I've been using (dare I mention it here) a Pansonic TZ10 and to me it takes incredible pictures -so much so I'm passing it onto my wife (he he):D and buying a Leica V-Lux 20 for me to use.

No doubt its not as good as the D-Lux 4 but if the zoom is anything like the TZ10 -which I'm sure it will be -only better with Leica's tweeking inside the camera -then some top pics will be taken -and after all that's what its all about -having a camera with you to take those unexpected shots that you might just miss lugging your DSLR with all its lenses around with you.:) Check out the Pic taken on the Panasonic TZ10 ( a Leica zoom lens)

aside from the warranty and video differences (60 fps vs. 30 fps), the #1 complaint I have seen with the ZS7 is blown highlights as you can see between the two pictures posted above. The Leica allows you to see the detail in the bright white regions whereas the ZS7 looks washed out or overexposed in the bright white areas where you cannot see the detail.
