Capture I and IMACS

I installed the Capture I software that came with my M8 on my IMAC. Every time I try to use it I get a message that says "The Application Leica Digital Capture quit unexpectantly." Never had this problem with my PC. Can anyone explain what the problem might be?

Thanks

Oh, just re-read your post. You received that software with your M8 which means it came out before snow-leopard for the imac. That very likely causes the crash because snow leopard does differ from its predecessor in a number of ways.

So do get an updated version by download, that should work.

Apologies if I'm wrong, but if you mean the black CD marked "LEICA DIGITAL CAPTURE 1.0" then the following is copied from http://uk.leica-camera.com/assets/file/download.php?filename=file_3791.pdf

2.3 Is the software delivered with the camera, i.e. Capture One LE (RAW data converter)

and LEICA Digital Capture (for remote control) compatible with Windows Vista and Mac OS

10.5 (Leopard) ?

Users of the software Capture One LE can update their program once free of charge via the

software manufacturer’s homepage (Das meistbegehrte Kamerasystem der Welt - Phase One). The actual software release Capture

One 4 is compatible with Vista and Mac OS 10.5.

The remote control software Leica Digital Capture is not compatible with Vista and Mac OS 10.5.

An updated version is currently not planned.

PS. In Vista I can install and launch Leica Digital Capture, I can control the M8 via the USB cable, but the s/w fails to download the captured image. However, using the file explorer I can visit the internal M8 memory (NB: not the SD card) and copy the latest image file manually. Awkward, I know, but it can be done ;)

Hi Wilfredo.

As Perb mentioned above, there is a difference between 'Capture 1' and 'Leica Digital Capture'. Capture 1 runs fine on iMacs (After getting the required updates. Although I don't use it anymore due to the way it grows unwanted files everywhere. I find Aperture much nicer to use.) but 'Leica Digital Capture' the remote-control software, does not work with recent OS-X versions.

Hi Wilfredo, I have had exactly the same.

I reported the crashing errors to Apple automatically, by setting that in Console preferences. After some time I got an update that was called something like "improved sequential read in database". Any way, I have not seen such problems after that update.

You can keep the console open, continuously seeing the errors.

I had taken some 3.000 shots on a trip. I prefer to have large daily groups, of often 200 pictures.

Technically: I have an 25 inch iMac that I manually upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Hope this helps you.

Albert,

I just sent the auto report, so will I get an e-mail from APPLE with an update?

What I have is Leica Digital Capture 1.

Thanks,

Wilfredo+
