I've got to comment again. I live here and never think there's anything to take photos of!! I am now embarrassed. Great shots and the X1 looks like a great wee piece of kit.

To NZDavid, we might have soft light, sometimes, but it's generally tempered by the p***ing rain!! You maybe wouldn't need a lens hood but arctic survival gear is a must, even in August.

Gensu - Lovely series, amazing pictures. Amongst the recent ones, I like #18 and #19. One question: how much PP have you done for these two? The light in #18 looks almost surreal.

Gensu,

You and the X1 make a great match. I'm quite amazed at how well the X1 handles the bright overcast skies. UK overcast is usually +1 stop more than a normal blue sky, which for B&W print film means the main subject is underexposed, and the same goes for slide film even more. But this X1 is handling the foreground shadow detail very well. I'm assuming you're not doing much or any tweaking in PS/Aperture/Lightroom?

The Oban port is a perfect example. Even at the small size allowed by this forum we can see the very high level of detail and wide dynamic range of the subject is captured perfectly. I must look at the X1 in more detail.

Sorry about the weather for your trip (May might be better or February has the least rain in UK but short days and cold).

Thanks for sharing,

Lincoln
