hm1912 Posted July 10, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 10, 2006 A great series. I particularly like the first and third ones. Good motion and still shots.
kidigital Posted July 10, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted July 10, 2006 Klaus, I used the large telyt head and 2X focus module for the shots. Thanks for the comment IIan, everytime I'd sneak a few feet closer, they move that much further away. Kurt
stuny Posted July 10, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 10, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Kurt - Though they are all quite good, #1 does it for me since it is so rare to catch them at that moment, which you framed so well. Regarding edging towards them and their edging away from you: We've had similar experiences with flamingos, ususally keeping 500 meters away, with the exception of in the Galapagos where they feel safe and let you approach within three or four meters. johnjs Posted July 10, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 10, 2006 Kurt, Enjoyable series. Might that be some lake spray on your lens in image #2, or defocused birds? BTW, I'm located just south of you, in Racine. -Best, John
kidigital Posted July 11, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted July 11, 2006 Thanks for the comments Stuart. The only pink flamingoes around here, are ones of a plastic parentage that teenagers leave on unsuspecting neighbors as a joke. Thanks Al and Peter. John, great to hear from another Wisconsinite. The white specs are a flock of seagulls out looking for alewives just out of focus. While walking along the lakefront, I was amazed by the amount of dead alewives on the shore and the stench of rotting algae. Sadly, the lake is a bit out of balance right now from the migration of invasive species and a heavy reliance on non-native trophy sport fishing. On the brightside, I did find a gathering of about 20-30 GB Herons. Kurt
