Kodak makes the sensor, which puts Leica into the same safe area as all others who use (or will use) Kodak sensors. It is unlikely that another maker will invent a radically new sensor to blow away Kodak's because such would be a grave risk due to the enormous expense of innovation and upscale manufacturing preparation, plus there is the liklihood of overshooting the market - that is, making something that won''t sell enough units to profit. (Look to the disk drive industry for great examples of the later.) So, that's a sustainable track and Leica will almost certainly provide iterative upgrades.
