A stroll by the Thames by night

This is a shot from near Battersea Power Station (you know, the one that looks like an upside down table with a giant pink inflatable pig from Pink Floyd's Animals album cover) when I went for a stroll this evening. About 5 minutes later there was a sudden cloud-burst and I was drenched.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for your comment, John.

When I looked at the image again I could see what you meant so I rotated it ccw a few degrees until it looked 'right'. Then I noticed that the edges of the buildings weren't perpendicular anymore so I checked with the original and they are perpendicular there.

I can see an angle between the streetlamp pole and the building edges so I think that the streetlamp in the foreground is out of true - in fact it looks like they all might be. So either there's been a degree of ground movement or the day the lads put the lamps in they had lunch in the pub. ROFL

If i may a small suggestion to this image Pete. I'd try cropping from the bottom up untill the bottom of the wall shows, thus eliminating a good part of the dark space. By doing so, you'll end up with a landscape format and with an image more pleasing to the eye, than it already is, IMHO.

Very well seen and captured Pete.

Best Azzo.

Azzo and Pete, thanks for looking and thanks for your comments, and I agree that the D2 excels in low light!

When I pp-ed the image I looked at the dead, black area in the bottom LH corner and decided to leave it in because I felt that it helped to emphasise the pooling of the light under the streetlamp.

But I've cropped it as you've suggested (below) and I agree that it makes for a stronger image. Thanks for your help.

I've also reduced the noise with Noise Ninja 2 using the D2 profile from this forum.

Pete.
