Hello,

I'm sure this has been posted numerous times but there's a good deal on these particular adapters on Amazon at the moment and I would like some technical info.

I have a Metz 45 CL-4 SCA 300A system. What I would like to know is

1. Do I need to buy both the SCA 3000C cable and the SCA 3502 adapter to get the system to work TTL on my M8?

2. I also have a Mamiya 7ii and a Zeiss Ikon Z1 - I know neither of these cameras offer TTL but will the 3000C and the 3502 have any adverse effect or any effective improvement if I use this system with these cameras?

3. What is the the maximum shutter speed on the M8 with the Metz adapters?

many thanks.

Hi,

Is your flash the original CL-4, or the CL-4 Digital?

If it's the original CL-4, then I think you'll probably be OK with the basic SCA adapter, as you won't get TTL with the M8 anyway. You will also be able to use this adapter and the 3000C cable with your other cameras for non-TTl use. I think that you could use the 3502 adapter with the 3000C cable on the M8, but you won't have TTl capability.

If it's the CL4-Digital, then I think you'll need the 3045 cable and the current model 3502 adapter.

The flash sync speed will be the standard value for whichever M8 model you have.

Before you get started: is yours a 45 CL-4 digital or just a 45 CL-4? If it's the latter, nothing will get you TTL on an M8.

To get TTL with the 45 CL-4 digital you need a SCA 3502 M5 adapter and - according to the Metz website - the SC3045 cable. I'm not certain what the SC3000C is, though Metz SCA Modules and Dedication Accessories - Dedication to your camera | Robert White Photographic Ltd says it's for using the older SCA300 modules with SCA3000 flashguns.

2. I also have a Mamiya 7ii and a Zeiss Ikon Z1 - I know neither of these cameras offer TTL but will the 3000C and the 3502 have any adverse effect or any effective improvement if I use this system with these cameras?
No. If the camera doesn't do TTL use the SCA301 "standard foot" that came with the flashgun, or use a synch cord (e.g. the 45-49 or 45-48).

3. What is the the maximum shutter speed on the M8 with the Metz adapters?
Same as with other flashguns.
