Agent M10 Posted January 1, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) What is the absolute best B&W film for sharpness for the M7? I read somewhere that Ilford is, but I wanted to know if someone actually knew.
Advertisement Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Hi Agent M10, Take a look here Sharpness. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
boilerdoc Posted January 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 1, 2007 Used to be Kodak's Tech Pan - now discontinued. Now probably is Adox CS20 sold by JandC Photo - Classic Films. The famous Erwin Puts has tested it and recommends it. I have 5 rolls that I'm shooting landscapes with in Florida now. Welcome. Steve
fotohuis Posted January 1, 2007 Share #3  Posted January 1, 2007 It's at the moment the SPUR Orthopan UR film with Nanspeed developer. Same micro film as the ADOX CMS 20 but slightly different chemistry which will give sharper more defined images.  About the article of Mr. Puts (also from Holland):  Testreports  and here you can find this film and chemistry: http://shop.fotohuisrovo.nl/product_info.php?cPath=21_25_28&products_id=214 together with the LINK to the SPUR website  Alternative very good and less steep film curves alternative films (and higher speed), more practical in a Leica M7: Rollei Ortho 25. Efke/ADOX 25 Rollei PAN25  Other alternative micro films with higher speed and pan-chromatic: Agfa COPEX or Kodak Imagelink, also both available with the SPUR chemistry. Another tip: If you want to try a regular B&W film with high definition and sharpness in a very well balanced way: Fuji Acros 100 (E.I. 80) in SPUR SD2525 (two-component developer). http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/Tabel%20SPUR%20sd%202525.pdf or even slightly finer grain and super sharp in a type of Beutler receipture (pyrocatechin): Rollei PAN 25 (E.I. 25) in Amaloco AM50 (non-staining): http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/Development_Rollei%20films.pdf AM50 is more or less Tetenal Neofin Blau/Blue compatible. Also a very suitable combination with Efke 25/Adox 25 films. http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/filmontwikkelaars_en.pdf  When we are a bit lucky Ilford will maybe come with a new Delta 25 film. I would be very pleased to test this new Ilford film due to the fact Ilford has confirmed their roots to the B&W classical film industry. A new Delta 25 film should theoretically THE best film in the mentioned iso 25 alternatives. We will see what the R&D dpt. of Ilford is able to produce....  Best regards,  Robert  PS.
