I see some balls and I see people on their feet. Is that the game of feetballing one hears of these days? If so, the South African architecture resembles the English one to a quite remarkable degree.

The game of croquet that I played as a youngster was not so gentle. Sometimes it became rather savage.

Thanks folks! This is one of the smaller lawns on the estate of the Marquis of Anglesey (one of his estates!). I think that the building at the back is his coach house.

 

Evidently he got all this for some perceived good work at the Battle of Waterloo as a thank-you; I don't know how the previous (Welsh) land owners felt and I suspect that himself was not exactly in the front row of the action!
