scsambrook Posted June 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2010 I haven't met your difficulty but I do have problems seeing the right-hand side frame lines of the 50 and 75 frames - they 'shade out' if my eye isn't perfectly centered to the viewfinder. That only happens with the 50/75 pair, not with any of the others. And I have no similar difficulties with my old M2. I don't know anyone else with an M8 and live a long way from a Leica dealer, so it's hard to know if this is a characteristic or a fault. Because I rarely use a 50, and don't own a 75, it hasn't been much of an issue - yet!
bocaburger Posted June 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 25, 2010 At one time I had an M7 upgraded with the MP "flare free" kit at Leica and when it returned the right side of the 90 frames was very dim. I sent it back to Leica and they returned it the same way saying it was "normal" with the new flare-free finder. So I called DAG and he said the reflecting mirror was misaligned, and he fixed it for me. My original M8 frames were all easily visible, and now the upgraded M8.2-style mask set is also likewise. So you needn't suffer with disappearing lines, either get Leica to adjust it or DAG.

efix Posted June 27, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 27, 2010 With my M8, it depends on the overall brightness and contrast of what I am looking on, and also on the angle at which I am looking through the viewfinder. Sometimes the brightlines are bright, sometimes they are dim, sometimes some are bright and some are dim. Might be a general problem with rangefinders?
