Guest badbob Posted June 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 23, 2010 Do I see two (2) of the Leica 18709 cases in that first photo?
ezc203 Posted June 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2010 Nycky - Firstly, congrats on the X1, it's a great way to join the Leica world As for your photos, love the first two camera shots, great clarity, contrast and desaturation (if a little too much at part); very stellar. For the latter two, I might want to check the WB/tint if I were you, looks a tad greenish to my eye. Just my opinion, hope you don't mind. Enjoy your camera!! And show us more photos! nyckylim Posted June 24, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted June 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for all the comments ! Do I see two (2) of the Leica 18709 cases in that first photo? Yup. I have 2 X1s. That explains how the other X1 is being taken by another X1. Selling one to my friend though. Nycky - Firstly, congrats on the X1, it's a great way to join the Leica world As for your photos, love the first two camera shots, great clarity, contrast and desaturation (if a little too much at part); very stellar. The two with the greenish tone was done deliberately. Will take note and keep it down a little in future. Thanks !! My brother works for Bape. I'm still waiting for my X1. Discount ?? davidhunternyc Posted June 29, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 29, 2010 I find the comments about the photo of the piano being a bit too greenish fascinating. I think that says a lot about how we think and feel about color. It the photo had an overly bluish or even an amber tint I don't think people would find this objectionable. I like the green in the photo a lot but I can see too why this color would grate the wrong way on some people. Is it because green is the color of mold or grass and doesn't sit right when used to color manmade objects? I don't know. Just a thought.

I like the green in the photo a lot but I can see too why this color would grate the wrong way on some people. Is it because green is the color of mold or grass and doesn't sit right when used to color manmade objects? I don't know. Just a thought. It doesn't look bad at all - quite good in fact. But it doesn't say "piano" to a lot of people. Try remembering any time you walked into an area and saw a piano, and try to remember your color impressions. Black and white for the keys, and (?) for the casing. Most casings I see are black or dark wood colors. So I'm guessing that's the expectation, subconsciously perhaps. davidhunternyc Posted June 30, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 30, 2010 Hmm, and the plot thickens. I know that with black, as in the piano keys, there are usually 2 different kinds of black; cold and warm black (A neutral black in the universe is very rare indeed. Try finding an ink pen with neutral black, for instance.). These hues are usually signified by blue and and shade of brown. A greenish black does not fit with the usual associations regarding shades of black. Similarly, an orange black would be foreign to our expectations. I, for one, do not think you should change the color, however. It is different and your photo forced us to take a look at our own prejudices and biases. wda Posted June 30, 2010 Share #12 Posted June 30, 2010 Nickylim, what can I say? Most people still await one X1 and you suddenly acquire two X1s. But congratulations on a fine purchasing decision. A comment on colour cast; the greenish tint to the black piano keys may be due to artificial lighting. Assuming the white keys and black keys are nearly spectrally neutral, I suggest you sample them with the eye-dropper and examine whether they are spectrally neutral. Then, in turn, use the white and black samplers and see if that makes a difference to the colours generally, particularly the flesh tones on the hands.
