AdamNSinger Posted June 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi , this is my first post, I have had my M9 for about a month, love it, ( would love it more if it was an exact replica of an M3, -groan another Luddite-) ) and consequntly various bits of zooming Nikonery are dejecetdly leaving thier cupboard and wandering off to pay for my re-enthused Leica passion. I don't know if it is of any interest, soon as I got my my M9 home I did the obvious thing and used every old ltm 50mm lens I could find in my sock draw. The results are at 50mm LTM lens comparisons - a set on Flickr 50mm LTM lens comparisons - a set on Flickr it dont tell you much except that on a cheap lap top screen, a small flickr image shows little difference between state of the art Leicery, and cheap Chinese knocks of a Cannon knock off of a pre war Elmar. Still all good fun. OK I have a Viso lll and for the life of me cant see how to get it on to the M9, it has the viewfinder with the knurled adjusting ring at the eyepiece that seems to stop it going on the camera? (You aficionados will know the correct sequence of vowels and the random consent that Leitz use to name this iteration on their pentaprism theme ) , any thoughts do I have to get another prism? Thank you if you have read thus far.
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Hi AdamNSinger, Take a look here Viso, M9 and other ltm lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted June 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2010 Welcome to the forum !! Your prism is clearly the "old" OTXBO/16480, made for the Visoflex II, compatible with the Viso III, but impossible to be mounted on "high" bodies like M5 M8 M9; you have to find the "new" prism 16499 which has the right elevation to be mounted on M9: not impossible to find... even if is much more easier to find a Viso III with it onto. A quick Google search took me here : http://www.lecameraonline.com/pindex.asp?Page=34 where a 16499 seems to be available
AdamNSinger Posted June 19, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted June 19, 2010 Luigi T I had never really looked before, as I had used it on an M2 with a 65mm only occasionally and a while ago, it being easier to use a real reflex camera, but the M9 makes me think that Lietz should be thinking about reflex housings. `So you are right I had a Viso 3 body with a Viso 2 prism, and thank you for sending me on to that site if I have incanted the right spells with pay pal should have bought it. Thank you so much for your help, very kind.
