RichardM8 Posted June 19, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted June 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anybody have the original leather Leica wrist strap, available as an option? Â Is it good and good looking?
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Hi RichardM8, Take a look here Wrist strap?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
anupmc Posted June 19, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted June 19, 2010 I'm guessing it's available separately since its listed as an accessory on Lieca's X1 page. It's understated and quite functional.

grober Posted June 19, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted June 19, 2010 The Leica wrist strap is bulky and unnecessarily large. I went to eBay and got a beefy (but still smaller than Leica's) generic wrist strap that is working out just fine. Â -g
Guest badbob Posted June 19, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted June 19, 2010 I agree with the above - the Leica strap isn't ideal. When I'm carrying the camera in my hand, the wrist strap is hanging loosely around my wrist, and the Leica strap then falls off of my wrist because it's so large, which negates the protection that the wrist strap is intended to provide. ASNYC Posted June 19, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted June 19, 2010 I got it and I really like it. B&H has it. Nice leather.. Although I use also my M8 strap

michael friedberg Posted June 19, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted June 19, 2010 I just received an Artisan & Artist wrist strap for my x1 --so far, so good. It's quite high quality if just a shade thick for an X1. Â Artisan&Artist* Straps
veerachai Posted June 20, 2010 Share #9 Â Posted June 20, 2010 I also bought Artisan & Artist wrist strap together with X1, it looks classic.:

Nei1 Posted June 20, 2010 Share #12  Posted June 20, 2010 I was guided to this the other day by google, its a design by a leather worker not a camera company and would need something to stop it scratching the camera. Its made for you and it seems you can specify size and colour for its 30 dollars.  Braided Leather Camera Strap by LBbyJ on Etsy Welcome, dear visitor! RichardM8 Posted June 20, 2010 Author Share #13 Â Posted June 20, 2010 I really like the strap from Artisan and Artist. Â But when you use the Leica case, the strap has to clear the case to allow the flap/cover to close. There is no space to close the cover when there's a strap in between. Â I've attached a Gordy strap now and the cord clears the case as shown on the picture. But I don't think I like the Gordy strap on the X1. h00ligan Posted June 21, 2010 Share #14 Â Posted June 21, 2010 Why do strap makers, both wrist and neck also including Leica, continue to use metal o rings to attach? I've seen the results of the metal banging the body.. not great.
RichardM8 Posted June 21, 2010 Author Share #15 Â Posted June 21, 2010 Edward, the excellent straps from the likes of Gordy and Luigi (Leicatime) and many others are also available with cords. Which I prefer too. Â Richard.
davidhunternyc Posted August 18, 2010 Share #16 Â Posted August 18, 2010 I too have the Gordy strap on my X1 and I too don't like it. The leather is too thick and too stiff for such a small camera as the X1. I used it for a week and have now taken it off. I have yet to find a simple black camera strap that is well made and is proportionate to the camera. Any more ideas anyone?
msbel Posted August 18, 2010 Share #17 Â Posted August 18, 2010 An A&A silk cord is my option for both shoulder and wrist. Knotted, I sling it over my shoulder and it tucks the X1 under my arm, which is perfect...if I want it on my wrist, I just loop it a couple times, and voila (though I rarely use a wrist strap with any of my set-ups.) Â I was hesitant on price at first on the A&A silks, however, now, there is no way I would use anything else, especially stiff leather that cuts into my neck and is not flexible enough to double as a wrist strap. Â To each his own.
Guest badbob Posted August 19, 2010 Share #18 Â Posted August 19, 2010 I have a small black nylon wrist strap on my X1. It says Knirps on the plastic separator, which means I took it off of my pocket size umbrella, made in Germany. This strap is nearly identical to the ones that come with many Panasonic cameras, but of the Panasonic straps I have none are black.
F1Addict Posted August 19, 2010 Share #19 Â Posted August 19, 2010 I'm using the neck strap that came with my X1, but of course I use it around my neck 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time I want a wrist strap I take it off my neck and wrap it around my wrist 4-5 times so it won't fall off if I somehow lose grip. Â I can't imagine only having a wrist strap on it. Where would I put it when I wasn't shooting?
h00ligan Posted August 19, 2010 Share #20  Posted August 19, 2010 Edward, the excellent straps from the likes of Gordy and Luigi (Leicatime) and many others are also available with cords. Which I prefer too. Richard.  The cords aren't the issue, they have to have some kind of retainer that slides so it can tighten on my wrist. Admittedly, my girlish wrists belong on a 14 yr old, but still.
