drdannn Posted June 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A friend told me I could get lots of Bokeh with the d2 if I filled the frame at 90mm, f2.4. The results are this. Pretty good bokeh I think. I chose this rose because it looks like there's a crescent moon on the petal. No post processing. stuny Posted June 17, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dan - While this does show lovely bokeh, light, color and composition, what Andy is referring to is the lack of sharpness on the rose itself. I've sharpened it some, below, but additional sharpening looks false. The D2 is often difficult to focus, and needs extra care when using manual focus, or spot metering, with the spot on the subject while autofocusing - Press the shutter button half way down, while aimed at the subject, hold it there, reframe and fire. If you're doing that and still have problems you might not have had the autofocus set to "AF-Macro," or you might have been closer to the rose than the D2 can focus. I blew it on the focus, but will try again , same garden, tomorrow.
