leicaM8freak Posted December 30, 2006 Share #1 Â Posted December 30, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have been watching the pics posted that were taken with a CV 12 and CV15, an I am planning to buy one of these for myself. Â I am looking at a Voigtlander 15 mm, but it looks to me that the barrel of the lens when the LTM adaptor is mounted might enter the M8 body to deep and damage the shutter. Â Is that correct, or can I go ahaed and order/enjoy this wide angle? Â Thanks

Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 30, 2006 Share #5 Â Posted December 30, 2006 I think there are different frame lines reason you want the 28-90 is it is the cleanest look. Also it is the one that looks like Voightlander recommends plus it lines up correctly. For a total of lens and adapter of 400 dollars it is really hard not to have, it's really small too. i use it without a external finder too just guess at the focusing stop down to F8 and shoot by feel than you always have instant review on LCD to make a adjustment. Love working like this and a great lens for off the hip shots too

I have both the 15 and the 12 and they seem to work just fine. No shutter hang up.  YET!  actually 12mm is oly 13mm inside the flange (and the 50mm eg actually is 7mm inside the flange looks like plenty of clearance.  Regards

cbretteville Posted December 30, 2006 Share #10 Â Posted December 30, 2006 There is an adapter for the 12mm that takes 77mm filters. It sort of fits the 15 according to Seven Gandy at Cameraquest.
geoff Posted December 30, 2006 Share #11 Â Posted December 30, 2006 I got the Voightlander Super Wide Heliar 15mm at the same time I picked up my M8s. It's such a great lens and price that it was a no brainer to get. It's very sharp and the geometric distortion is practically non-existent. Â I got it with a 28/90 M-Bayonet Adapter Ring but now use the 35/135 which yields 24/35 bright-line frames in the M8 viewfinder which can be used similar to an overlay grid useful in lining up horizontal and vertical lines of architectural subjects. Â However, I have been using the Heliar 15mm mostly and for all of my nightlife work, without the aid of any viewfinder, as I can get very close to my subjects and work in tight surroundings very quickly. Â The only issue that I have had, has been with my extreme angle of handheld flash use and the resulting flare, but this is an example of extreme conditions. None-the-less, I am picking up a Zeiss Distagon 15mm ZM for hopefully better flare control although the difference in price is ten-fold. Â Most of the images currently up on my MySpace space were taken with the Heliar 15mm. Â Â www.myspace.com/geoffotos
