What should Zeiss 50mm Planar be Coded As

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased Tim Iassics Coding KIt and am wondering what others have coded their Zeiss Planars as?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cris...

Frankly, you needn't code it at all if corner falloff and cyan corners (when using an IR cut filter) are your only concerns. You won't see a meaningful difference - or at least, I didn't...

OTOH, if you want the EXIF data to show the FL of the lens, you should probably code it as a Summicron 50.

Cris, does your Planar have the recessed groove around the mount?

Performance wise it is the equivalent of the Summicron 50 with which it shares the same max aperture. Erwin Puts found it at the same level. I'd therefore say to code it as if it were a Summicron 50.
