I have been walking with the M8 outdoors for a couple of weeks now. As all surely know, there is no snow in New England, but it is a little cold.

Today, around freezing, and this camera is easily handled with gloves on (no pun intended). The buttons to the left of the review screen are a little difficult, but everything else works fine.

Here's a "gloved" shot taken along the Bedford portion of the bicycle path, with 50mm 'Lux asph, about 5.6, iso 160, 1/360. I white balanced it in C1 then fooled around to resize to go to the Forum.

So far, I don't see that the battery takes a hit in the cold. But, I guess 32F isn't really all that cold.

I was out yesterday in Montreal. It was -8C. Camera was on basically the whole time and I took about 40 shots. About 2 1/2 hours, just as I was getting back to the car the battery died. This was on my new spare battery with only the first charge. The day before I was out for about 2 hours and 50 shots, battery still showed 2/3 full. This was on main battery.

I'm in Montreal, too, still awaiting my M8. - 8 C (17 F) is not all that cold for Montreal, as you know. Today, it's -10 C (14 F), and Sunday will be -13 C (8 F). Will you go out to shoot on Sunday? I really wonder how the battery will withstand it.
