Guest stnami Posted October 14, 2010 Share #481 Posted October 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hooligan you dope ............, yes I can see where it is an advantage to some photographers like the young girls at parties etc I personally like my cameras to be seen and heard by the subjects if I am taking photos of people I even place objects on the hot shoe.....see image If I was to get a Nex I would either get a pink or red one, beats just a red dot Not all of us fiddle with the "secret pocket business" and play pocket billiards:) Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Hi Guest stnami, Take a look here Sony NEX 5 vs Leica x1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
h00ligan Posted October 14, 2010 Share #482 Posted October 14, 2010 You insult me but almost manage to come off as likable... I guess I have to just decide thats you. Pockets are for carrying between shoots. I still think you could offer much more here, for all your criticisms and sarcasm, step up and share your particular skill set.. Processing. It would be well received. If you don't want to share info, technique, etc, why do you bother with forums?
h00ligan Posted October 14, 2010 Share #483 Posted October 14, 2010 Interesting 'mount' btw. Heh.
ravinj Posted October 14, 2010 Share #484 Posted October 14, 2010 Well, in all fairness, neither are truly pocketable... at least with any comfort. X1 fits in my jeans pocket with causing discomfort.
Guest stnami Posted October 14, 2010 Share #485 Posted October 14, 2010 Hey you are the one that stated off with the jerk insult not me. Tip no1: Try using a loud camera with a toy to attract attention for street portraits:D Tip no 2: Be prepared for the consequences:p Welcome, dear visitor! h00ligan Posted October 14, 2010 Share #486 Posted October 14, 2010 Oh come on, you've insulted me plenty, and others. Still I'd rather pick your brain than argue with you. Interesting shot, I'll have to dissect it in the morning when I'm more awake. Interesting idea to go the other way, loud not descreet..I wonder if here people would automatically assume the worst with that method. Maybe a baseball bobble head mounted, something that would be less of a doll to the super sensitive overbearing American public, though I'd have no idea what to get in that arena. I do find the technique of telling people that no matter what they shouldn't crack a smile is pretty effective though, so I can see the merit. h00ligan Posted October 14, 2010 Share #488 Posted October 14, 2010 Bloodletting in Arizona involves large caliber guns on the hips or in the pockets of 70% of the citizens. :/. I'd happily take some punches for some great shots though! I think maybe I I'll give this a try though. Thanks for the tip, I'm always up for trying new things. If it works or not, at least I learn something, even if I end up looking like a jackass to many. Hah. I'll add, I Already get massively strange looks when I lie on the ground to shoot. That golf ball shot I posted a while ago received a lot of attn from people thinking I was a mentalist.

ChiILX1 Posted October 14, 2010 Share #492 Posted October 14, 2010 I saw a guy walking along the riverfront yesterday with an NEX-_ and it didn't even hang around his neck properly due to the lens weight. The whole thing looked so ridiculous. I guess I just don't get that camera's appeal.
jsrockit Posted October 14, 2010 Share #493 Posted October 14, 2010 stnami, I've seen your photos and know you are good, but please tell me you don't really put that device on top of your camera...
h00ligan Posted October 14, 2010 Share #494 Posted October 14, 2010 Well maybe he's just having fun at my expense but I think it would be interesting to get some reactions from randomly hot shoed items.

The whole thing looked so ridiculous. I guess I just don't get that camera's appeal. To each his own...but the E-mount lenses must be the shittiest I have seen in a while, I'd rather have a smaller sensor and buy the panny or oly pen, its that bad... Right now for APS-C sized sensor the X1 trumps all it is plain obvious after all the dust has settled and the pundits all have their say they are still back in this forum sometimes kicking up hell probably due to envy. Somehow the X1's appeal outlasted more than they imagined. Meanwhile they look at their silly nex and the terrible IQ that comes out with E-mount lenses better start scrambling to buy Leica Ms and do MF haha what a joke. I am even willing to bet with the fuji out the X1 still trumps it. If you want great IQ small package just buy the X1 and be done with it. if you dun mind a larger size and heftier weight then the M9, you'll be happy for a long while! I am even willing to bet with the fuji out the X1 still trumps it. I know it's hilarious. Thanks for pointing that out. I am so sick of people saying that they bought the the NEX instead of the X1 because of the AF speed, price difference, and lighter weight, but then say they solve the IQ pitfall by buying M glass! It makes you wonder how much indeed is from envy and how many people writing in this forum actually own the equipment they tout. There are many on this forum who seemingly would never buy an X1, simply because of the red dot, and are out to convince others as a means of convincing themselves. I don't elevate those people by calling them critics. (To be fair I also know there are X1 owners on the forum posting to palliate their reflexive uncertainty in regards to their own purchase). Here's the thing: I think the X1 does mark the spot, the nex to nothing misses and Fuji is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Bangkok. There you have it! If Leica-bashing becomes an official sports this forum will be filled with Olympic Champions muahaha!!!
Guest X1s Posted October 14, 2010 Share #498 Posted October 14, 2010 After reading the last several pages of this thread? if you can call it a thread? I must say that some here are way out their with there surmise about the Nex 3-5, Sony recently updated the FW several days ago and are going to continue to update its NEX FW for the future, including the synchronization w/auto focus of another one of there lens and most likely other branded lens. That says a whole lot about Sony and were they want to go with this nice all a rounder digi cam NEX 3-5. there really listening to there consumers, and do have the resources to max out every bit of possibility. I'm still trying to sell my X1 w/handgrip no buyers yet, and very little interest and responces for it:confused: If the camera (is) still as good as most say it is? emma
Dan States Posted October 14, 2010 Share #499 Posted October 14, 2010 It's too big to be called a thread. It's more like a rope now. Soon it will become a high tension cable and then finally a concrete column.

The X1 is a luxury item and is priced too high for most for what you get... it'll take some time to sell. That doesn't make it a bad camera in the least bit.
