Advertisement Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi Overgaard, Take a look here So, how often do you need your rangefinder adjusted ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest mc_k Posted June 8, 2010 Share #22 Posted June 8, 2010 Richard, thanks for the tip on this home-test. I tried it and my M7 and CLE came out the same - yeah, roughly times 2, but both the same, so either they're both ok, or both not, hehe.... I think this at best only checks the "gain" of the rangefinder, and assumes the engravings on the scale are exact. You may be checking the rangefinder, or you may be checking the scale. spydrxx Posted June 8, 2010 Share #23 Posted June 8, 2010 digbyhp - here's a test chart I found on the web several years ago which has to be customized for each camera, but works like a charm (I've used it to adjust RFs on some of my inexpensive cameras, and to periodically check my Leica). The two icons are drawn on cardstock with their centers are spaced equivalent to the distance between the centers of your two rangefinder windows. In practice you place the chart around 15 ft from your camera and set your lens to infinity. If it is in alignment, both horizontally and vertically, you will have a third virtual image between the two you have drawn, which will be a perfect circular 8 point star. X + Make both icons same size (say 1-2 inches high and with a heavy black pen)
