It arrived during the very first week the M8 started shipping and is currently at Solms being fixed. Mine is also 31013xx I received it the first week from a dealer in California. I guess the first shipment was scattered all over the place. How do you know if you received a 'new' one or one that has been fixed prior to first sale? The first from a NY dealer was received early in Dec, the second delivered by a dealer in Fl on Dec.18 was shipped direct from Germany according to them. . I contacted Leica to check because the second M8 has problems that were supposed to be "fixed" in the later batch shipped. Thus far Leica has not replied and I doubt they will.
