Ok, My M8 has shipped :D

The lenses I have are 35 1.4, 50 1.4, 50 2.0 and a 90 2.0. So I am well covered on the longer end but need more on the wide end.

So my question is if you had these lenses what would you choose the 21mm or 24mm and why ?

Thanks

Mark

I not only "would go" but actually "did go" to 21. (I have the exact same line up as you except with the 21 and without the 50 2.0.) It seems to me that if wide is the objective the 21 is simply more wide. It also works out to about a 28. I always felt that 28 was the longest wide that really seemed wide. Anything over 30 almost handles like a standard lens and the 24 works out to around 32.

My hope, however, is that Leica will come out with a faster 16!

I have both the 21 asph and 24 asph.

The 24 is slightly sharper and it is easier to correctly frame, but I decided to sell it as I like the 28 on the M8 and the 24 is too close.

Probably I will sell also the 21, because when I need wider I directly mount the 15 Voigtlander.

The 21 asph is really nice though.

P.S. My hope/vote would be for an Elmarit 18/2.8 asph :)

I already have the 35 Summilux Asph and found it's just not wide enough(no supprise), looking at the frame lines over the past few weeks I came to the conclusion that the 24mm does not give a wide enough FOV for subject matter I need a wide for. I eventually bought a 21 Asph figuring I can just about frame with the whole viewfinder and crop as necessary on postprocessing. it was a difficult choice to make given the outstanding reports on the 24mm. But I felt the 35 with a little foot movement could get me closer to the 24 FOV.

It should be here just after the New Year just as my M8 heads back to Solms for "upgrade".

So I won't get much of a chance to shoot with it. I also have the 50 f/2.0 and 75 f/2.0
