spillay Posted June 1, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello All, This is my first post,so a quick introduction. I am currently living in Uganda, Kampala on a Long Term Assignment.Passionate about photography, only 4 months since the purchase on my first SLR and since then I seem to want to own more and more equipment. Maybe its a beginners sickness It may be too late to change my mind now but I have a V-LUX20 which will be delivered in the next week. The issue that I have, is the lack of reviews on this camera or proper sample photos. Is there very few owners or is everyone opting for the Panasonic TZ10 which I am told is the twin of the V-LUX20. Review and info on the web seem to suggest the cheaper option being the Panasonic. In any case I decided to go for the Leica because of the name and I have experience with other German products as I am a serious Marklin Train Collector for many years now. The Panasonic could be exactly the same but I don't really care, however can anyone who owns this provide some insight into the V-LUX20? What are your take on this when it comes to the following: 1. Macro Performance - I enjoy this the most. 2. Noise 3. Overall Image Quality I needed P&S for when I need to snap something quickly, be it on the way to the office etc. Just cant carry my SLR around. I will have mines soon but interested to think what others feel about this Leica release. I will surely post some pics. If I broken any forum rules, please let me know. Thanks

stuny Posted June 1, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2010 Sathish – Welcome to the Forum. The V-Lux 20 is quite new and to my knowledge there have been no reviews of it published. There have been a number of comments on the Forum about the camera, but I’ve not seen any that indicate the people commenting have actually used the camera, so what you read in those posts is most likely speculation. Generally in the past, the Panasonic version and Leica version of the same camera vary in these ways: · Cosmetics · The software discs included with the camera (better software in Leica) · The length of warrantee (Leica longer) · The size of the included SD card (Leica larger, but neither large enough) · The default settings for in-camera picture-taking processing (Leica more conservative in things like contrast, saturation, sharpening, etc.) When you get the camera please show us your photos in the photo section. Guest srheker Posted July 17, 2010 Share #10 Posted July 17, 2010 Just received v-lux20, nice to hold, good images but NO SD card included! Who cares? If there are cards included they are so small that they are useless. So why pay for them; they aren't free just because they come with the camera. Addy444 Posted July 20, 2010 Share #11 Posted July 20, 2010 I have another question -I have a d lux 4 and am looking to get either another d-lux 4 or maybe a v-lux 20 --has anyone done any comparisons between the two cameras? I have used ( I hate to mention it here ) a Panasonic TZ7 and results are pretty good for what I need -has anyone got a leica v-lux 20 with some pics taken that I could look at? I know it has a smaller sensor than the d-lux 4 but does this make a real difference in normal shooting? (I don't use raw ) I would be grateful if anyone can help as I'm looking to purchase either a d-lux 4 or the v-lux 20 within the next couple of days for a camping holiday! Thanks:)
