An Experiment with low light and X1

Tested X1 in low light condition. 7W bulb in landscape lighting.

 

Picture taken at ISO 3200, F2.8. Pictures 1, 2 and 3 are output of the same shot, modified in lightroom.

 

Picture 1: Straight conversion from RAW to JPG. Very close to what I saw with naked eyes. Not bad for a small camera.

 

Picture 2: Auto Tone applied in lightroom. Obvious noise seen. Not sure how it compares to DSLRs like Nikon D300.

 

Picture 3: Auto Tone applied in lightroom and then the curve tweaked a bit.

No wonder there is so much noise... if you meter for the light, the dark parts will be very underexposed... adding noise when you change the exposure in lightroom. It is a good sensor, but it isn't magical.
