Advertisement Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Hi jaay, Take a look here AIK SENG PHOTO In lucky plaza, in Singapore for M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
efftee Posted May 29, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2010 Any thoughts on this place in terms of safetly/ legitimacy to buy an M9? I don't think that's an authorized Leica dealer. You can check the papers if it is a Schmidt supplied unit; if so, it'll be less of a hassle if you ever have to send it in for whatever reason. [sorry, just realized that if you are not residing in Singapore (or SE Asia), it'll make little difference. The shops at Lucky Plaza are generally considered 'shady' so you'll need exercise a little more caution. Good luck!]
mgreernz Posted May 29, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2010 Personally, for Leica shopping In Singapore I'd confine myself to Cathay Pbotography.
newnastyboy Posted May 29, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 29, 2010 Personally, for Leica shopping In Singapore I'd confine myself to Cathay Pbotography. Agree Cathy Photo is good but i will also say GOPE at Tanglin Shopping Center are just as good if not a little better in terms of personalized service. jaay Posted May 29, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted May 29, 2010 Thanks for the advice - cathy has no m9s or any idea when they will. Some other shops do but I'm dubious about warrenty etc.

artspraken Posted May 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Schmidt Marketing Asia Ltd Here are the list of Leica authorised dealers in Singapore. Aik Seng Photo is one of them. That M9 is legit from Schmidt. The warranty card should be from Schmidt.
Hacker Posted May 29, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 29, 2010 Avoid anything from Lucky Plaza. The other place is Alan Photo. PM me if you need help.
efftee Posted May 30, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 30, 2010 The other place is Alan Photo. Why?
Guest imported_torben Posted May 30, 2010 Share #10 Posted May 30, 2010 Thanks for the advice - cathy has no m9s or any idea when they will. spylaw4 Posted May 30, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 30, 2010 Try selecting a different country from the link top right!
Hacker Posted May 30, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 30, 2010 Why? I've gotten from all 4 official dealers, and the one that I find with the best prices and service is Alan. But you have to know them.
Hacker Posted May 30, 2010 Share #14 Posted May 30, 2010 Do a search of Lucky Plaza complaints, and see what gets thrown up (general stuff of overcharging from various shops). Many recent cases to read.
twom4 Posted May 30, 2010 Share #15 Posted May 30, 2010 I would not buy anything of value from Lucky Plaza in Singapore. Too many bad incidents and experiences. I would also avoid Alan Photo. Cathay Photo provides the best overall service and price in my personal experiences.
efftee Posted May 30, 2010 Share #16 Posted May 30, 2010 I've gotten from all 4 official dealers, and the one that I find with the best prices and service is Alan. But you have to know them. Ah. I thought you meant Alan Photo is the other place to avoid. I agree. Service is really dependent on the sales person tending to you; I can say that I have gotten good and bad service from any of those shops. In my experience, it's hard to beat Alan Photo in terms of price.

Cathay Photo provides one of the worst service i ever had , Try Gope's Photo , my first time buying from them and overall it's Impeccable service.
