abrewer Posted December 28, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2006 It is a pigeon.... As great a discovery as finding a "Passenger Pigeon" might be, Pete, I don't think this is the one. Thanks. Allan

elansprint72 Posted December 29, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted December 29, 2006 There really is a bird called the "Laughing Dove", to me it looks pretty much like this grey pigeon, except the main colour is ruddy brownish, it is native of Southern Europe. I just thought this guy looked rather splendid. The V-Lux1 seems to be quite a step up from the FZ30, I'm still finding out what it can do but the weather has been crap since I got it. Thanks, Pete. elansprint72 Posted May 14, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted May 14, 2007 A bit of a surprise to see this one come back (perhaps a homing shot?.... sorry:o). I've hardly ever given a pigeon a second look but this guy looked so splendid; if a little tired. He was in a wildlife sanctuary, attracted by the food, I suppose. Since this was taken the V-Lux has become a "weapon of choice", if only that lens went down to 24mm, then I would just sell the rest. In Trafalgar Square it is now quite rare too see more than a few pigeons since they employed that guy with his Harris Hawk
andybarton Posted May 15, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 15, 2007 Employing someone with a hawk is common practice now. We will be doing so in our new city square in Liverpool, when it's finished in the summer.
