d2mini Posted May 27, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked up a wonderful Voigtlander neck strap. Cotton strap with leather bits on the end. Very minimalist and folds up into the camera back like it's nothing. The only thing is that it's much shorter than I would normally wear. The M9 ends up sitting just under my man boobs. I notice that is doesn't sway/bounce as much when i walk (the M9, not my boobs), but I was wondering if there was an specific reason why many non-adjustable straps are made so short. And I'm not a tall guy at 5'8" with a kinda short torso.

peter_n Posted May 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 27, 2010 I ended up getting some old Domke bag straps made into seriously adjustable camera straps. They now range from the upper chest to the lower hip. Vey flexible but they do take up room in the Domke bag compartment.

Walt Calahan Posted May 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I prefer shorter camera straps because I can wrap the strap around my forearm creating a very secure grip on the camera for slow shutter speeds. Never understood cameras resting on people's navels.
LuxBob Posted May 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 27, 2010 Am I the only one thinking about how this might look on some ladies - serious photographers of course, black and white too and make it a film camera just to show I am really serious.

d2mini Posted May 27, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted May 27, 2010 Hi,Size: 940mm L x 8mm W @ Artisan&Artist* Straps Regards, Ruben Actually, this is the strap i have, but with the voigtlander logo instead of A&A. Artisan&Artist* Straps 900mm vs 940 means it only hangs one inch lower. I guess this is normal and I've been wearing mine too low all this time. Maybe it has something to do with LONG protruding dslr lenses.
craygc Posted May 28, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 28, 2010 Its a conspiracy! I find every damn tie I buy for work to be too short also.... Tie makers and camera strap manufacturers are colluding...
