Guest Chris M Posted May 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does the X1 really need a firmware update? and would that update increase the speed of the (auto focus) ? I'm pretty happy with the firmware 1.0, but what are your thoughts about it? please be honest. chris m.

jsrockit Posted May 26, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2010 If Leica can increase the AF speed by implementing a firmware update, and I believe I can speak for most of, we're all for it. Personally, I can live with the camera as is. Any performance enhancements would be gravy for me.

DRabbit Posted May 26, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 26, 2010 I'm a big fan of the RAW-only choice when shooting. Auto-focus improvement would be welcome. and I'd love the ability to lock exposure separate from locking focus (when using Aperture-Priority mode). leicabrae Posted May 26, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 26, 2010 There's another function which I think would be welcome (assuming it's not there already... I've read the manual but couldn't find it anywhere). On the D-Lux 4, you can programme one of the buttons around the dial for quick access to some settings. I use it to change ISO quickly. On the X1, you've got easy access to almost every setting you might need. But if you want to change from colour to B&W it takes a bit of digging. The quickest I could think of is saving User Settings for B&W and User Settings for Colour and switch in that way (the User settings is the first one if you scroll the menu backwards, if you know what I mean). But still, it's a bit slowish in that way. If one could program one of the 4 buttons around the dial to access the color/b&w toggle that'd be great! Guest Chris M Posted May 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 26, 2010 WOW! excellant thoughts, I too would agree with all of you. Thanks gang, and I'm only about a week old now with the X1 and absolutely love it!, just kind of wish the dials where a little more positive and secure. They don't lock as well as the M8's and seem to have allot of play in them. But I can live with that. Final out put quality is SUPERB;) chris m. There has to be some kind of reason to pop $7k for an M9. If the X1 was built like a tank for $2k it would pillage M9 sales at some level. I give Leica a lot of credit for doing the price/engineering adjustments in the build quality and cosmetics and not dumb-assing down the image quality the way Nikon and Canon do with DSLR's at the lower end. Well... I own a X1 and i´m saving up for a M9. You can´t compare one with the other, they are just 2 diferent instruments with diferent purposes.
