Guest Posted June 2, 2010 Share #41 Posted June 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) AF of the 1.2/85II is a bit faster than with the first version. 1:8/85 AF speed is OK and the choice of many, regardless of the price of the body attached to. To put focus on the star button, away from the shutter release is an advise more than half of the serious Canon shooters followed. I'd use the 100mm Macro IS if the distance limiter could be set by me according to the situation, let's say to 1m or 0.8m or also 1:2, though not the way it is now. But this is a Leica forum. It is a forum first of all (initially a place where people met face to face) and it is about Leicas. Faraz, maybe you get something like a 35/2 or 2.5 or an old/Skopar 2.8 for practice a month or so? Canon has great week-end courses. Please consider deciding before: showing them your M9+0.95 or learning something from them ? Folks I know round here buying a Porsche (no, I can't afford it) book a week-end course on the Nuernburg ring, instead of trial and error or asking around. You have a beautiful family, too and they sure love you If I thought of taking 500 pics of mine in one holiday (let alone in one day) my gear would be locked up for some time. They allowed me a 3(-5? No!) minutes session with grand-pa in the garden last week-end and then during lunch and afterwards in town it was: "Please cut out your paparazzo sh... !"(This is my blunt translation of polite German, precluded by a crescendo of lady-like non-verbal signals of disapproving.) Love is love! It is something to share and always be seen positively, overlooking possible misunderstandings. They're jealous of my Leica I presume. Cheers from Frankfurt, Simon
Advertisement Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Hi Guest, Take a look here M9 increased hit rate vs. DSLR cameras. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicashot Posted June 2, 2010 Share #42 Posted June 2, 2010 Now I know I might be preaching to the choir but I wanted to say that my days of 1 or 2 keepers per hundred are behind me. I recently took family to a theme park and took nearly 500 pictures using M9 and the new Noctilux and there isn't one I want to delete after loading into my PC. I am not talking about framing or the quality of shots themselves as much as photos being what I intended to in the first place and being technically sound even under unfavorable conditions. Just thought I'd share my joy over using M9 instead of dslr (5d2 in my case) and the results I am getting. I'd say its because you own a $15000 kit and your Noctilux produces a characteristic you've never seen before. The novelty eventually wears off and then you need to decide whether it was worth the expense. All new Leica M owners go through the 'M' phases. Many leave, but many get lost in the M abyss of Leica M artistry.

My wife reads this forum and its now only a matter of time before she realizes how expensive her new fav camera is. It's all bye bye cruel world after that as far as I am concerned
