Hi all,

I just received Match Technical's E-Clypse 1.25 Magnifier and was wondering if the Luigi half case will fit with the magnifier's protrude and also the Thumbs Up EP-1? Would appreciate your kind feedback as I'm close to ordering one from Luigi. Thanks!

You might think about buying a Zhou instead. Zhou posts directly on these forums and may well be able to advise you or tell you what you might be able to do about your requirements.

Or you might not... No need to settle for second best. Speak to Luigi and I am sure he will advise you. You are unlikely to be the first with this requirement. He is in any event also more than happy to customise in accordance with his customer's needs.

Regards,

Bill

Thank you for pointing that out, Marc. I am sure xero200 can make his own mind up without your "help". In case you hadn't noticed, he asked about the Luigi products, not anyone else's. Let's not pollute this thread with the same infantile inverted snobbery that characterised that one, eh?

There you are, Xero - he's started again.

Everyone's feedback is most welcomed! I'll try to write to Luigi and see how it goes. But do the Zhou half cases accommodate the protrude for E-Clypse? Anybody here in the forum have this combination? Anybody have any pics as well? I'm sure the majority of the M9 users would have purchased a half case to protect their 'investment'...

No idea, I'm afraid. However send a pm to Zhou. He seems to be pretty responsive.

I've seen quite a few posts from people who say that they prefer not to put their M's in cases at all.

this is an easy one. for the thumbs-up, you need to cut a slot already stitched into the back of luigi's case (since you asked about luigi's case in the first place). i did it for mine and it's a very easy cut-out to make with a scalpel. as for the magnifier, it should fit. is it the same size as the leica 1.25x? if similar size, then yes, of course it will fit. perhaps if you post a picture of your magnifier here with some dimensions and i will happily tell you if it will fit luigi's case or not:)

oh and for the record, i always fit my m in a half-case and it's always going to be a luigi

The magnifier I purchased is a size 34 (the other dimension was super huge!) and could be found at this link match Technical Services - E-Clypse EyeCup MAG

I saw that Luigi now accommodates the Thumbs Up series for an additional EUR 20 so I sent an email with that option on the order requirement.

@xero200

By looking at the picture from Match Technical website, I think the E-Clypse 1.25 Mag can fit on the camera with my case without problem. But, I will double check with Tim and get back to you when I have the answer.

This is the answer I got from Lily at Match Technical. She quotes a user who anwsers the same question.

I have the Match's E-Clypse MAG 1.25 with the smaller 34 mm eye cup (I believe MS Japan Exposures makes the 1.35, Match the 1.25 & 0.85) and it fits in the Luigi half case without any problem. With the 1.25, the 35 mm frame lines are just outside the finder (I think they are very close, but never bothered to check exactly). It does not have diopter adjustment, so when I use it I have to screw the Leica diopter off the eyepiece, screw on the magnifier, then screw the diopter into the magnifier. Doable, but takes a while and some concentration. The Match product, as with all their products, is top notch.

I am in the US, and Japan Exposures will not sell and export for use on a Leica camera in the US (and a few other places). I know several on the forum have had other purchase it for them, then ship it to the US.

If you have any questions about Match's products, Tim Issac, one of the Owners, responds readily to emails. The email address can be found on Match's site.

Xero, as you can see (excuse the poor iPhone pic), this A&A case appears to be perfect if you intend to use both the Thumbs-UP and Eclypse at the same time.

I've read the debate on Luigi vs Zhou. Quite hilarious really, in more ways than one. Speaking on just the merits of the cases, ie checking the politics, economics, human rights and even environmental issues at the door, the quality and design of A&A cases are excellent. Though I do not own a Luigi or Zhou, I do have friends with them and have first hand experience with them. They are good in their own ways, they are also bad in their own ways. So is the A&A case. In the end, get what you like. If you can afford a Leica, you should have change enough for either of these... ;)

Here's another pic (the front) of the A&A.

I also got reply from Tim this morning. He told me their E-Clypse MAG has two sizes. They are 34mm and 42mm diameters. The 34mm diameter should not problem with cases like Luigi, AA and mine. But the 42mm diameter E-Clypse need test. He will send me samples so we will see how the E-Clypse fits on my case. It will also be a good reference if you use Luigi or AA case.

Hi Zhou,

Thank you so much for attending to my post at L Camera. You know what, after about 5 days of waiting for Luigi to reply, I think you pretty much have my business. It's these small little attention to detail that sometimes make a difference in business!

So you reckon that the 34 will fit onto your case?

I noticed that you only have Black for the M9, would you have a tan brown color?

I guess the fastest way to order is via ebay right?

Hi efftee,

That's exactly the configuration I have on my M9! Nice A&A case! Did you purchase it online? If so, may I have the link so I could check out their cases? Thank you so much!

Hi xero200,

I may receive the E-clypse samples from Tim next Friday. When I get them, I will test and post test result here.

I don't have the tan brown color case at the moment. If you prefer that color, Luigi case is a better choice.

Thanks,

Zhou

Hey Xero, I bought this from the local A&A agent in Singapore for my M8. I like A&A accessories, I have the Image Smith bag, their woven silk strap and other stuff; I find them to be low key/profile and very well made.

Where are you? Photo Village carries A&A in the US; I forget the name of the guy there but he was super nice and helpful. This particular case, however, isn't on their web site so I'm not sure if they carry it. You can try the Japanese web site, which has this case for sale. Good luck! :)

Hi Efftee,

I'm in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I'll be in SG early next month and perhaps you could give me the A&A's agent in SG's address & name? I do know that Chiif Cameras carry Zhou's half case and I'm going to drop by to check out the case as well.
