Hello All, My X1 is on its way, WOW!! didn't have to wait long at all, only 1 day from my original post here on the X1 forum. But now I'd like to here from guys with big hands like me. Is the Leica version hand grip for the X1 ergonomic and usefully comfortable for BIG HANDS, ie; 2XL glove size? or should I go with the Luigi's custom half case w/grip for about $400.00 he asking for a 4% (additional (Pay Pal Fee) also, I do love his work though!! go figure? but please I need REAL WORLD answers to this question, as the demo I tried 2 months ago at my local dealer, didn't feel rite in my hands at that time, and he didn't have a grip for his demo either at that time for me too try.

I use my X1 "naked" with only a study wrist strap. I have handled the Leica handgrip but didn't like it -- too clunky.

To me, it's essential to keep this camera light and facile.

I would love it if Richard Franiec made a custom grip for the X1 like he has done for the D-LUX 4 but this is unlikely given the X1 limited production. (Richard's site: Richard Franiec's Camera Accessories in case you are interested.) His products are light in weight, economical, super functional and pleasing in the extreme.

I have the Luigi case and for me it is the prefect solution and worth the cost.

Yes, I love luigi's work, and the new Natural Aged Brown he recently has come out with is awesome!! so I bit the bullet and ordered it with the SS flush mount tripod screw, as shown on his website, Yummy Stuff

Chris, I have found the Leica grip more to my liking. Rather than just a slight bulge, as with leather cases, the grip allows one or more fingers to curl around the front of the grip intensifying the feeling of security of tenure. Fortuitously, I also use the half case supplied by Leica which arrived as a gift for being an early adopter in the UK. Surprisingly I find that adds even more to my comfort level when 'out-and-about'. But the Leica grip by itself is super. Try one if you can before committing.
