earleygallery Posted May 17, 2010 Share #21 Posted May 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Buy the 25mm Skopar, you'd be silly not to, it's a fantastic little lens and an approx 35mm on the M8. I have a goggled Summaron 35 2.8 which I listed for sale a few times here but no takers, mint and boxed too. I'm hanging onto it, they didn't seem to be fetching much more than £200 last year but I've seen a few sell on ebay recently for over £500! Might be the M9 effect. Kyler. Posted May 18, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted May 18, 2010 Jaap- Such an amazing lens, but way to expensive for me to rent for 14 days. James- I am highly considering the Skopar. Do you know of any reviews for this lens as I cannot find uch about the performance, handling, build, etc. Thanks, Kyle
earleygallery Posted May 18, 2010 Share #23 Posted May 18, 2010 Yes I'll give you a review. I have the screw version which isn't rangefinder coupled but has 3 click stops for focussing, and works really well. Depth of Field means that I have yet to make an out of focus shot. The M version is rangefinder coupled however. It's a lovely sharp lens, even wide open, and excellent at 5.6/8. No vignetting I've seen, small and light too. 10/10 for performance, value, and build. You're daft not to buy one! Here's what it can do; Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Kyler. Posted May 18, 2010 Author Share #24 Posted May 18, 2010 Thanks James, This seems like the pefect lens for a trip to Italy! Shoots landscapes well and makes nice street shots. Even if i decide that I don't want it after my trip I could resell it with small loss compared to how much a rental costs. Thanks James, do you have any more shots with the lens? i would love to see them. Kyle
SJP Posted May 19, 2010 Share #25 Posted May 19, 2010 I have had 3 M-mount Summarons over the years, none of which have ever seen a goggle. The f2.8 version is much better than the f3.5 one. They are worth about £250 - £300 retail and are lovely lenses. +1 the f/2.8 summaron is a great lens at a great price
