Can anyone please advise me, which UV filter to get?

the local camera shop, recommended me to get

Leica Series VII for M 24mm f/1.4 (13421)

is it the correct one? because If i'm not wrong this is a UV-IR filter, which should be use for Leica M8 only (i'm using Leica M9)

So should i buy it? is it OK to use it for Leica M9 ?

thank you

Andree:

You're correct - Leica's 13421 is a UV/IR filter and should not be used on the M9.

Any UV only filter can be used.

Hi Rich.

Thank you for the information :)

I will start looking for BW filter then.

I would recommend the B&W 007 filter instead of the UV filter. The UV filtering is not needed on this lens, and the 007 is specifically for protection - more scratch- resisitant, tougher and thinner.

Cheers Jaap. Did not even know such a filter existed. I'll see if B&H has it listed.

Just done some reasearch and it seems these super slim protections filters are not available as Series 7 filters. looks like one has a choice of skylight or UV only.

The B&W 007 MRC (clear multi-resistant coating) is the one I use on all my lenses with the M9. Unfortunately, no one seems to stock them in the States. It took appr. six weeks to get them through Adorama. Good luck.

Rich.
