hdileo Posted May 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey, wondering if anyone has encountered this message when trying to upload photos from the M8. I haven't changed anything recently, but suddenly neither bridge nor iphoto (ugh) recognize the camera. I did reformat the card not too long ago, but have uploaded since then. I'm in the middle of a project and hoping I don't have to send the camera in for repair. I'm not even too sure how to troubleshoot this, since the problem exists across programs and on different computers. Thanks much for any help. ho_co Posted May 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2010 I can't give specific advice, but from what I've read on the forum, it's generally preferred to use a cardreader rather than uploading from the camera. IIRC, Mark Norton's disassembly analysis of the M8 found that the camera's external connectors were mounted directly on the main board of the camera, so repeated use of the cable connection might lead to unnecessary stress. At any rate, trying to read directly from card would give you an idea whether the problem is with the camera or with the card. Good luck.
jaapv Posted May 17, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2010 If you insist on uploading from USB (slow and unreliable) instead of a card reader, switch the mass-storage/PHP setting in the menu, that might help.
danyves Posted May 17, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 17, 2010 Do prefer the use of a card reader.
