michaelbrenner Posted May 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know of any small, quick-access belt cases available for the X1? The perfect case would be one like the D-Lux 3 belt case but sized for the X1. With that case I was able to carry my D-Lux 3 with me everywhere, and I hope to do the same with the X1. I could have the camera out, frame, shoot, and back stowed in under five seconds with no one the wiser. The case was just large enough to hold the camera and no larger, had quick access via the magnetically held flap, camera sits in case easily, camera can be drawn and replaced with one hand quickly, wrist strap hangs from camera outside the case, made of durable leather, unbranded (it was a Leica case but no brand name showing), case can fit easily on belt at side under shirt and even be worn while driving, riding, sailing, but is still easily accessible, protects the camera, is durable, and is hidden / unobtrusive. In know there are a few other threads on cases, but none of them address these specific issues. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've looked at the existing Leica cases - way too big! I've also looked at some of the other case postings - all too large, too bulky, too slow to draw the camera and put it away again, quickly, not like the D-Lux 3 case. Anyone know who the actual manufacturer is of the D-Lux 3 belt case? Perhaps a good place to start. Help, help, help!

h00ligan Posted May 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 16, 2010 I thought leica made a similar case for the x1 as the dl 3/4 belt style?
michaelbrenner Posted May 16, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted May 16, 2010 Yes, it's a beautiful case, but much too bulky, like wearing a case on your belt that you would normally have on a shoulder strap...

brill64 Posted May 17, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 17, 2010 try one of those small shops selling luggage accessories in a shopping mall or at the airport. i bought a great half-size waist bag big enough to hold an x1 with finder attached, spare battery & card in the back zip pocket. that would be it though. i agree...very, very useful and never gets in the way. it's not padded though but i guess you could add a small padded insert if you were really active

I read several remarks that the Leica X1 case 18709 was very slim, even too small for the camera.

damnsharp Posted May 17, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 17, 2010 I read several remarks that the Leica X1 case 18709 was very slim, even too small for the camera. The 18709 case is beautiful, nice leather. Because I now have a ready case I nearly use it. It's not too small for the camera, at least in the beginning I would say yes, but after a few weeks it fits nice. Yes, you need to get the camera out easy otherwise you could have the problem the flash pops out but I don't have a problem with that.
