stunsworth Posted May 15, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 15, 2010 Pete, where does the event start from?
farnz Posted May 15, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted May 15, 2010 Hard questions first eh, Steve? The only info I have at the moment is that the tours will be "around the city centre". I'm waiting to find out which photographer has drawn the short straw of having to answer my daft questions ("What does this button do?", "What's the Scheimpflug Principle?" etc) when I expect to find out the starting point. Sorry this doesn't help in nominating a meeting point but it's all I have at the moment. I'll post as soon as I find out more from "Laura". Pete. al-fresco Posted May 16, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 16, 2010 The 23rd May is my wife's birthday - do you really think I'd sneak out before she wakes and drive to Manchester? Hell yes!! See you there!

Xmas Posted May 18, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 18, 2010 Hi Steve Michael Markey said he was coming as well, Michael and me may be 'there' about 09:00 for coffee, when will you appear (?) and do you have a favorite coffee shoppe, (?) I'll PM my mobile. Don't worry if this is too early we can shoot up the Banksy until you appear. Noel
stunsworth Posted May 18, 2010 Share #14 Posted May 18, 2010 Noel, 9 is probably a little early for me <grin>. There's an exhibition at Manchester art gallery I'd like to see and may go to before we meet... Manchester City Galleries - A World Observed 1940 - 2010: Photographs by Dorothy Bohm I know you know Stephens in Manchester, there's a Starbucks in St Ann's Square just behind the building they're in, how about meeting there at 11:30 and then going to the Turkish restaurant I mentioned? Details of the cafe here... Starbucks Coffee Co - Google Maps Allan, Pete, is that ok for you.
farnz Posted May 18, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted May 18, 2010 Pete, I see your problem. How about lunch at this Turkish restaurant on Deansgate... Welcome to Topkapi Palace The online reviews seem positive... topkapi palace - Google Maps Steve, Thanks for suggesting the restaurant, which seems very nice although my meeting point is the Triangle Shopping Centre which seems to be about 2 miles away. Can you (or anyone) very kindly recommend a pub that does lunch close to the Triangle to make it easier for someone full of lunch, ale and good cheer to stagger merrily towards a group of horrified strangers with cameras please? Pete.
stunsworth Posted May 18, 2010 Share #16 Posted May 18, 2010 Thanks for suggesting the restaurant, which seems very nice although my meeting point is the Triangle Shopping Centre which seems to be about 2 miles away.. Pete, the Triangle shopping centre is only a couple of minutes walk from the cafe I mentioned. The Turkish restaurant is about another 5 minutes walk. farnz Posted May 18, 2010 Author Share #17 Posted May 18, 2010 Pete, the Triangle shopping centre is only a couple of minutes walk from the cafe I mentioned. The Turkish restaurant is about another 5 minutes walk. Oops, Steve, my bad. I don't know Manchester very well so I Googled for directions and it came back with 2 miles. Darned newfangled technology ... Starbucks at 11.30 sounds fine. See you there. Pete.
al-fresco Posted May 19, 2010 Share #18 Posted May 19, 2010 I'll try to make contact with Noel and, provided Stephen's doesn't open on a Sunday, I think we'll make it to Starbucks by 11.30.
Xmas Posted May 19, 2010 Share #19 Posted May 19, 2010 I know you know Stephens in Manchester. They are sometimes open on Sundays is the bad news, but the baked potato shoppee in the same arcade is normally closed - so we are likely to starve, while others drool, flex their plastic etc., .. I'll PM you some mobiles so we can find one another. Noel.
andybarton Posted May 19, 2010 Share #20 Posted May 19, 2010 Stephens doesn't open on Sundays. You're safe.
