jsrockit Posted May 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica CM Viewfinder LED issue... I just purchased a Leica CM locally and now I'm seeing that the LEDs in the viewfinder do not come on like they are supposed to i.e. my viewfinder is blank. I've tried changing the battery to a fresh one, but that didn't help. Does anyone know of any troubleshooting I can do? I don't see anywhere in the manual that says you can turn the LEDs off. I'm thinking they are no longer working.

bill Posted May 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2010 The short answer is get your money back. The LED display should be working. If it is not, take it back. There is no way that the user can turn it off, nor troubleshoot it if it is not working. If you have tried a fresh battery already, you have done all you can. jsrockit Posted May 4, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted May 4, 2010 Thanks Bill. I will return it. I've already found another, so no big deal. Great camera, but Leica no longer repairs them...so I'm taking my chances anyway.
gberger Posted May 6, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 6, 2010 Another vote for turning it back and getting another. The CM is an excellent unobtrusive "pocket" camera with a superb lens. Enjoy. My spouse keeps hers loaded either with Fuji Velvia or Astia.

rjans Posted May 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) You would think so, but they said no and offerred me a discounted DL4. I have read some time ago on this or the German forum about repair of the CM. Leica does not repair the CM. It seems that spare parts are not available anymore or another reason. Instead of repairing they offer a discount on one of the digital compacts. I hope my CM will continue to work for many years. I have not yet found a digital equivalent.
