Hello

I recently saw a Leica M4 in black paint with chrome details such as the rewind crank, speed knob and shutter release. I doubt that they were ever produced this way, so I wonder if anyone else have seen M4's with this mix of chrome/black?

Yes and there are a lot of custom made bodies with mixed pieces.

I would check against known serial number lists to make certain that the camera is a genuine black paint M4. It is more difficult to re-paint dials and rewind cranks than it is to re-paint bodies. So - often those parts are left in their original state - chrome.

All the best,

Not really, I have seen quite a few black paint M4s were supplied w black chrome parts on the rewind lever, back door and viewfinder and these are original at assembly. It is unlikely for so many to have these replaced by intention if the serial number is correct and the body is not seriously damaged.

Yes, this variant exists, but I seem the OP speaks about "genuine - silver" chrome - not black chrome - parts... and this I'd say is outside any original factory variant.
