petermcwerner Posted December 23, 2006 Share #1  Posted December 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday I received this lens from Ukraine, an interesting alternative if you do not want to invest a fortune for a 16mm lens On full format the Fisheye effect can be seen much more, but with a bit of postprocessing and the right subjects, it delivers interesting results on the M8. Mine came in Leica R mount and it can be used with a 22228 adapter (or a third party adapter) on the M. Here some pictures I took today, all taken at f/5.6, Aperture priority, hyperfocal distance.   Welcome, dear visitor! robsteve Posted December 23, 2006 Share #3 Â Posted December 23, 2006 Peter: Â I think you enjoy the lenses more than the cameras I have had the 16mm Zenitar for a number of years and it is a fun lens to play with.

Yesterday I bought on ebay a 1.9/73mm Leitz Hektor of 1938 and a 2.8/24 Nikkor  Peter
nemeng Posted December 23, 2006 Share #5  Posted December 23, 2006 (Ahem) of course there's nothing new in using a R-Fisheye on a M rangefinder. I think someone has been using this combination now for years... :?)  Leica FAQ - QuickTime VR™ with Leicas  BTW, are you aware you can use software tools to correct the fisheye barrel distortion? I really love my 1956 vintage Canon 50/1.2. on my RD1. I can hardly wait to try it on the M8.  BTW, how much did you pay for the Zenitar? It is a very fast lens for the aperture. Where is one for sale?  Rex
Guest smep_reloaded Posted December 23, 2006 Share #7 Â Posted December 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, but a cropped Fisheye-Lens is on No. 1 of my list of the ugliest things in photography.
Rona!d Posted December 23, 2006 Share #8 Â Posted December 23, 2006 Some call it fun, some call it a nightmare I would prefer the CV 15 (after the Tri!). Â Thanks for your efforts and have fun.
petermcwerner Posted December 24, 2006 Author Share #9  Posted December 24, 2006 Great pictures!Thank you all for the kudos BTW, how much did you pay for the Zenitar? It is a very fast lens for the aperture. Where is one for sale?I bought mine at DVD Technik in Ukraine. It cost me $160 + $20 shipping. They are the only store I found selling it in Leica R mount, which I wanted to also use it on the R9+DMR. If you only want it for the M8, you can get them in a cheaper M42 mount. I was aware of the existense of the software but had mislaid the address. I used the Distort filter in Photoshop CS2 for these pictures.
