Advertisement Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Hi k-hawinkler, Take a look here 24mm f/1.4 Leica, Canon, Nikon comparison. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wilfredo Posted April 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2010 The sample image here I doubt will sell that lens. What is it exactly that you are asking for?
Walt Calahan Posted April 26, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 26, 2010 Well I'd love to afford the Leica 24 f/1.4, or the Nikkor 24 f/1.4. I have to older Nikkor 28 f/1.4, and its a great lens. My Leica 24 f/2.8 does a great job for me, and will probably not replace it with their new f/1.4.
batmobile Posted April 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 26, 2010 I also think Ken had a duff 24 1.4 lux. Mine strikes me as a remarkably good performer wide open.... but then I don't really care about this vs. that because the lux takes the pictures I want it to and very nicely. He says 'If you have a Nikon dont bother with the Leica 24 lux' . Well that depends. People rarely take one lens with one body for shooting. You take a 'kit'. The Nikkor 24 will add 650g to a larger and heavier SLR kit while the 24 lux will add 450g to an already much smaller and lighter kit. It depends what you are doing, but I can see there being many advocates of either one appraoch depending on application. I for one would not have dreamed of solving my fast 24 problem with a Nikkor as to achieve the same as I do with my tiny and light Leica outfit, my bag would have doubled in weight and trebled or quadrupled in volume. Everything Ken comments on is in a vacuum. He shoots casual vacation type images and so does not face the challenges many others do when it comes to carrying kit and integrating hardware solutions into a 'system' which has to provide an individual's solution to all their needs for a given usage. I am sure the new Nikkor is fantastic, but it is not the either or decision Ken suggests. not even close.
tgray Posted April 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 26, 2010 I've been waiting for a review of all three lenses by the same person. Surprised it hasn't happened earlier. I heard on another forum of a user who liked the Nikon more than Leica. Even though I only really shoot M, it's a moot point for me - my 24/1.4 will be a Canon for price considerations (already have a Canon and can't afford the Leica).
