nodrog Posted April 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, Just a quick shout out for my favourite 'Leica' body, the wonderful Konica Hexar RF. I use digital Nikons professionally, but still try to put a roll or two of Provia through the Konica when I can, paired with either a Summicron 35 or 50. When I bought the body used I was worried that focus would be slightly off with the Leitz lenses, as had been intimated in fora such as this since the body was first introduced. But I've found it to be right on the money every time. With its nearly silent shutter and unobtrusive wind-on I've enjoyed using this unique camera more than any other film camera of recent vintage. An absolute classic, and much more affordable (if you can find one) than an M7! The picture shown is of some Japanese 'nashi' pears, taken on Provia with the 35 'cron. Pin sharp. Beautiful colour. So, is anyone else out there using the Konica? Pete Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! viramati Posted April 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 25, 2010 I have one (the poor man's M7) and it is a great camera. I must admit though that it doesn't get a lot of use as The M9 is my main camera. Focusing appears to be fine
mike.ong Posted April 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 26, 2010 Pretty nice camera, specially the 1/4000th shutter speed. I bit heavy though.
Focus Posted April 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 26, 2010 I have one, bought it from Japan, and I am very pleased. I have used it as a main camera on some trips and it never failed, and its very silent when doing street photography. I recently bought the viewfinder adapter to use Leica magnifiers since I use 50mm lenses a lot

mike.ong Posted April 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't findi heavy at all, especially compared to my D700+24-70 setup! You bet! I never handled a D700 though but a D3. Maybe I was spoiled by the Canon P's weight.
andym911 Posted April 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 27, 2010 Is the weight not the same as the M6, more or less? andy
viramati Posted April 29, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 29, 2010 Hi Focus I'd really like to know where I can source a viewfinder adaptor that you mentioned Thanks
Focus Posted April 30, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 30, 2010 Hi! I bought it from Japan Exposures, works well although you dont screw it on to the Hexar but "slide" it on japan exposures | films and more (formerly Megaperls Japan Webshop)
Rona!d Posted April 30, 2010 Share #11 Posted April 30, 2010 I had one and loved it. A Konica-Leica repairman adjusted it for Leica lenses. Sold it after service was getting difficult and M8 came. Sold it to a young guy who was looking for a good affordable M-camera for his world tour. I missed it so much that i had to buy me a another object of desire: A nice old M3 crossed my way - the complete opposite of the Hexar but service might be possible in decades
nodrog Posted May 1, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted May 1, 2010 Sold it after service was getting difficult and M8 came. I've never had it serviced. What exactly was the problem that came up with yours, if any?
