Chuck Albertson Posted April 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 20, 2010 New, no. But if you can stand a used one, contact Glazer's in Seattle: Home page I thought I saw a used 90 AA there the other day.
Jeff S Posted April 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 20, 2010 This post will likely get moved to the Customer section, where it belongs. But, there is a new titanium one at...Ace Photo | The Camera Store With More | Established 1992 | Ashburn, Virginia ...for $3699. Ace is a very good dealer. tdtaylor Posted April 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 20, 2010 I checked my usual 6 or 7 places- nothing. No one seems to have much of any stock compared to last Fall.

scjohn Posted April 22, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 22, 2010 there is one in my bag but YOU can't find it there. It performs beautifully on the M9. I am shocked it has received so little attention with the re-emegence of full frame. I love this lens. Good luck on your hunt!

zlatkob Posted April 22, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 22, 2010 Also try Badger Graphic. They sometimes have items when others don't.

Sspector15 Posted May 29, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 29, 2010 What about the pre-ASPH 90 Summicron? I've got a 1964 Elmarit that is pretty nice. Tried an Emlarit-M that had a broken bayonet tab and wouldn't focus properly. I've found what sounds like a really good Canadian Summicron. I haven't found a review of it, though. Ecar Posted May 29, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 29, 2010 What about the pre-ASPH 90 Summicron? I've got a 1964 Elmarit that is pretty nice. Tried an Emlarit-M that had a broken bayonet tab and wouldn't focus properly. I've found what sounds like a really good Canadian Summicron. I haven't found a review of it, though. I have the latest version of the pre-ASPH Cron 90. It's a wonderful portrait lens wide open, less "clinical" and more pleasant IMO than the APO-ASPH at f/2 but, as you stop down, it quickly becomes razor-sharp. From f/4 on (if I remember correctly the quick side-by-side comparison I did a while ago), it produces images that are virtually undistinguishable from the APO-ASPH, to my eyes at least. Hope this helps.
W4Leica Posted May 29, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 29, 2010 Adorama has a used one with E+ condition and price of $2300. They are good by my opinion. Somehow I was not impressed by ACE Photo with their service. W
adan Posted May 30, 2010 Share #14 Posted May 30, 2010 RE - the 90 Summicron pre-ASPH. It does suffer from some chromatic aberrations even when stopped down. It and the Summarit 90 f/2.5 are almost identical in this regard. But as ecar says - by f/5.6 it resolves well past the abilities of even the AA-free M8/M9 Zion cliffs shot - 90 S @ f/5.6 belt shot - edge of frame - 90 S CA at f4 (both with M8) Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted June 1, 2010 Share #15 Posted June 1, 2010 For anyone looking for a pre-ASPH in Europe, Thomas Merkt has one for sale at the moment here LEICA Summicron M 2/90 # 3455804 bei eBay.de: (endet 09.06.10 17:40:05 MESZ) for €649. My dealings with Thomas have been very satisfactory and his condition ratings are conservative if anything. Wilson
menos I M6 Posted June 2, 2010 Share #16 Posted June 2, 2010 I just got mine in Hong Kong but I find the focus ring is too tight. /ddbg This was one of the reasons, I took a latest pre ASPH over the APO, when I shopped for a second hand sample. Second hand pre ASPH seem well stocked used in shops with a solid supply of APO samples as well. I found the focus on the APO slightly stiffer, than on the pre ASPH, but the aperture ring very light to the touch, whereas the pre ASPH aperture ring feels much more precise and properly clicking. The aperture ring on the APO is also more exposed to accidental changes, which is annoying to me, but a very tiny nitpick. Both lenses are entirely different lenses, shot at wide apertures - the APO has significantly more resolution at f2, especially outside of the small center of good sharpness from the pre ASPH. This is very important, if you plan, to crop photos, or shoot your subject out of center. I love my pre ASPH, but indeed think about getting a third 90mm lens somewhere down the road, being the APO for the resolution and out of center performance. Exactly then is it also, where coding longer lenses makes sense (for sanities sake regarding archives). Good luck on your hunt for the new APO and don't let somebody pull you on a pre ASPH, if out of center performance and general sharpness and contrast wide open is, what you are looking for. You might be let down.
57andrew Posted June 2, 2010 Share #17 Posted June 2, 2010 I just got mine in Hong Kong but I find the focus ring is too tight. /ddbg ddbg, did you go to L&H in Windsor House if you don't mind me asking - or Tin Cheung? There don't seem to many reliable sources here? Many thanks Andrew
