roguewave Posted April 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I love my 5cm Summicron (sn 1190307), which renders a lovey bokeh and soft transitions. I hoped to use this with my new M8. I find it an amazing portrait lens with people over 50. Very gentle wide open. Are there any issues I should be aware of? Any info regarding its use & exposure settings or tips would be much appreciated. Are there any IR fliters for us with the M8? Thanks, Ben

cbretteville Posted April 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 19, 2010 An E39 Leica UV/IR or B+W 486 should fit. As far as I can remember all 50 Summicrons have a 39mm thread. Carl
roguewave Posted April 19, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 19, 2010 Carl, thanks. Also, I have read several threads about using this lens with an M8. Is my general understanding that it is safe to use this lens & to collapse it on the M8?
cbretteville Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 19, 2010 Ben, It looks like that to me to. I haven't got that lens, but have collapsed the Elmar-M 50, The Elmar 50/3.5 Red Scale and The 50 Summitar without any problem. All these protrude further into the camera when collapsed than the 50/2. See Scott's post (#10) in this thread http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/95761-safe-collapse-50mm-elmar.html Carl
