jsrockit Posted April 18, 2010 Share #21 Â Posted April 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I dropped my X1 one mtr. and hit the wooden floor right on the ejected lens.No lens popping or denting and the x1 works fine! Â That's great to hear. Though I wouldn't bank on this ever. Your heart must have skipped a beat.

trylab Posted April 18, 2010 Share #22 Â Posted April 18, 2010 Yes, so now I have ordered handgrip, and been at my local Laika shop (pet shop!) and bought me and my X1 a dog-collar (wrist-strap, type mini dogs). - Leica X1 connecting people -. Dog-collars come in all sizes, colors, metal or leather are dog-cheap and easy to tweak to X1.

Panchen Lama Posted April 22, 2010 Share #24 Â Posted April 22, 2010 I dropped mine too! I went for the system case in the end, which apart from the nosebleed cost I'm very happy with. I've been extremely anal about keeping the camera either in the case or on the strap around my neck, but it just takes the one time! Got out of the car convinced it was around my neck and bang there it was on the road. feck. Like bad robot it hit the corner near the flash and I now need a penknife to get the flash out (not very elegant I grant you). I don't remember receiving any passport when I bought it, but does the Leica warranty cover accidental damage anyway? I might just live with it as the rest of the functions seem fine and I never use the flash anyway. Trying to be philosophical now, fighting back the tears.. Â It's painful reliving dropping of our camera/s...I used to want war stories as it meant I was out there in the field and that's part of life..A larger and heavier camera has been in my experience less likely to be dropped as it's harder to forget you have it.. Â I can't image having my 1 series Canon with a 70-200 lens on a wrist strap in my teeth, along with a 580 flash unit.. Â I think smaller camera than the X1 that easily fits into a pocket would less likely to be dropped..the X1 is just a weird size to me...BUt I love it. Â Even though I rarely use the flash, that sort of injury would be very painful as it's fun to show off how cool the flash unit is designed. Â Any idea what it would cost to repair? Â SOrry to hear about this.
