Peyton Hoge Posted April 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) After using the same card reader successfully for several years on a MAC running 10.4.11, (SD and Compact Flash), it will not read the SD card out of an M9. Any suggestions on new readers? Thanks in advance.

jchabalk Posted April 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 13, 2010 I'll be watching this thread with interest. I got a Lexar Professional UDMA Compact Flash/SD card reader 2 or 3 years ago after doing a little research. It was reviewed very positively at the time as being a really good USB reader. It's also quite compact which i like. This is the one i have (Just noticed, i joined nearly 3 years ago but this is my first post, hello there! - ebokeh.com)
andybarton Posted April 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 13, 2010 If the SD card in your M9 is one of the newer ones, old readers will not read them. It's not a "Mac" thing, or an "M9" thing, it's a "card reader" thing. You will need to buy a new card reader
mby Posted April 13, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 13, 2010 I've this one from Digisol, costs €5 and I'm super-pleased! http://www.digisol-online.com/epages/61690334.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61690334/Products/4720x/SubProducts/47201-000 Best regards, Michael
RoySmith Posted April 13, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 13, 2010 The best review of SDHC card readers is Rob Galbraith's. I had the same issue, but as I had a Sandisk Extreme Firewire CF Reader I got the Jobo SD/SDHC to Compact Flash Type II Adapter and have been happy with it. Per P. Posted April 13, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 13, 2010 Has anyone started experimenting with USB 3.0?

Works great, seems fast, convenient size. Just finished reading and dl´ing 74 DNG´s while reading the Leica Forum....
roydonian Posted April 17, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 17, 2010 I currently use a Sandisk SDDR-93. It works, but has the problem of being far too light in weight. Even the natural springiness of the cable is enough to make it skitter around on my desk. My original Sandisk reader for CF cards was much heavier, so would always stay wherever it was placed on my desk. Best regards, Doug
Ed_K Posted April 17, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 17, 2010 I have my SanDisk Extreme usb2.0 reader for quite a while, which works flawlessly with the SD cards from the D-lux4. As my M9 has not arrived yet, i have to wait to test this combo out hopefully this month.
