wstotler Posted May 11, 2010 Share #41 Posted May 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm booked for the Philly show in May. Let's hope the Nocti, 21, and 24 lux are there--that's a large part of the draw for me, moreso than the M9. . . .Cheers, Will I just spoke with Leica and was told (as a follow up to my request by E-mail) that tomorrow's roadshow in Philly will have the Nocti, 21, and 24 in attendance. Yay! Excited about trying these out and seeing how they perform. Cheers! Will

scottwallick Posted May 11, 2010 Share #42 Posted May 11, 2010 I just spoke with Leica and was told (as a follow up to my request by E-mail) that tomorrow's roadshow in Philly will have the Nocti, 21, and 24 in attendance. Yay! Excited about trying these out and seeing how they perform. I tried all three of these (the 21 and 24 Summilux) lenses at last Saturday's Roadshow in NYC and was really impressed by the Noctilux. Enjoy. Tom M Posted May 13, 2010 Share #43 Posted May 13, 2010 Ekwan, The information regarding the location of the Roadshow in Montreal is from Leica USA: "De Silva, Shirley" <Shirley.DeSilva@leicacamerausa.com> I apologize for the delay in my answer. Ed_K Posted May 14, 2010 Share #44 Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks for getting back to me, Tom. The Toronto roadshow is still 3 weeks or so away, guess there is plenty of time for leica to get back to me with some venue address.
Ed_K Posted May 21, 2010 Share #45 Posted May 21, 2010 For those going to the Toronto roadshow, Leica has updated their list of venues. It is the Fairmont Royal York in downtown Toronto.
mjw Posted May 23, 2010 Share #46 Posted May 23, 2010 just wondering what experience has been at the roadshow regarding the guest photographer in other cities. i own an m8 and m6 and knew that most of the features of the m9 wouldn't apply to me, so i was really looking forward to the guest photographer and handling some of the lenses. i know that chris weeks and riccis have been the guest at several shows. attached is the link for the guest that we were treated to in dallas. needless to say it was extremely diappointing. leica should be embarassed. Rick Posted May 24, 2010 Share #48 Posted May 24, 2010 mjw, Chris Weeks was the guest at our Road Show in Seattle. He is a professional LA photographer that works for studios and shoots celebrities and shoots for Getty Images and the like and I'm not sure what else. He has a personal interest in street. What can I say, he is slugging it out in the pro field making a living. It was so-so.
tdtaylor Posted May 24, 2010 Share #49 Posted May 24, 2010 FWIW, the speaker, the name I have forgotten (fishdrummer), was the highlight of our Washington, DC session. The majority of the remainder of the time was on the M9 menus and how to set the M9 up to the preferences of the commentator, a bit dull for anyone who had had their hands on an M9 for more than a couple of weeks- a thought held by several M9 users in the room. But as I said before, great if you wanted to handle an M9 and lenses before the purchase.
Rick Posted May 24, 2010 Share #50 Posted May 24, 2010 By the way, now and then my ADD set in but, all in all it was a nice afternoon and I learned a few things about the menus and some other things about the camera and it was fun to see the pictures Weeks took in Seattle of our market. I met him and talked and got a kick out of him. I liked being able to have unsupervised access to any of the Leica lenses like the Luxes and I even walked out and shot them out of the room. All in all I'd recommend it. Just set your expectations at the level of a casual presentation with toys to play with.

Rick Posted May 24, 2010 Share #52 Posted May 24, 2010 Well put, Rick (except the 21, 24 of 50 noct weren't at our presentation ) Sorry, that was kind of most of the reason to go to a Road Show and see their wares. I fondled all of those lenses and I'll confirm for you that the 21 and the noct are very nice and I had them both on my M9. Really impressed with the 21. Very surprised at how big these things are getting.
mjw Posted May 24, 2010 Share #53 Posted May 24, 2010 Can I ask frankly what you didn't like about the presentation in Dallas? Jamie, I enjoyed the show for what it was. My main interest was in the guest photographer....to learn their workflow, best practices, etc. I also wanted to check out some of the lenses that my local dealer doesn't have in stock. The speaker that Leica sent did a fine job. He showcased some of his images and spoke about the benefits of the camera. He also shared how he handles workflow, his lens choices, and the basic settings of the camera. The guest photographer arrived late and admitted she was not prepared. She threw together a group of about 15 images from the M9 after she got there. She didn't give any background about herself (she is a recent college grad) or how she works. She did tell us that her only experience shooting Leica was with a D-Lux 4, which she bought in Sept 09. She had never shot with a rangefinder and it showed. She basically shared vacation snapshots and would stand at the computer and say "as you can see this has really great color....I am really impressed with this camera....this photo is amazing....etc". She showed more shots from her D-Lux 4 than the M9 and spoke more about that camera as well. It was very frustrating because she couldn't answer basic questions either. I think that most in the room felt bad for her and were polite by not grilling her. Her session didn't have any value at all and was very short because of her lack of preparation. It was a terrible reflection on Leica. I don't know how the selection process works, but someone dropped the ball. If the goal is to drive business and purchase of M9s then she didn't help the cause. jplomley Posted June 1, 2010 Share #57 Posted June 1, 2010 Jamie, wish I could make it down for your presentation. I'm on board here in Montreal on June 5th and will mainly be showing my work from Cuba done with the M9, both in print form and projection with the wonderful Pradovit D1200. Just an fyi if you are projecting, the Pradovit is hungry for pixel count and can handle 1920x1200. I'll be using FotoMagico once again as the application for projection. drdannn Posted June 2, 2010 Share #60 Posted June 2, 2010 I also went to the M9 roadshow in Los Angeles. It was GREAT. They had a couple of dozen M9s' to play with and a host of lenses. Taught some good stuff too. I took this photo with a Digilux 2. I stitched a photo to the right which shows what they taught about the finder. Welcome, dear visitor!
